THE 2010 AFRICA DAY—CELEBRATE’S  ATLANTA’S AFFINITY FOR AFRICAN INITIATIVE, UNITY AND PROGRESS

The Africa Heritage Foundation, Inc., under the leadership of the charismatic President/CEO Chief Tunde Adetunji announces the 2010 Africa Day celebration to be held in Atlanta, Ga.  May 22 through 25, 2010 at the   city  Hall.

Join The Africa Union and many of the nations of Africa in a celebration of unity and progress for Africa and America.  A celebration, given under a Proclamation from the City of Atlanta, will include exhibitions, a parade, symposium and seminars on Africa.  There will also be presentation of awards to distinguished Africans and people of African descent who have made meaningful contributions to the development of Africa.

The Africa Heritage Foundation Inc. continues on its fateful mission of   “Bridging the Gap and Building the Bridge” between Africa and the USA.  Atlanta is the Center City for America as the gateway for African nations to the USA.   Over its twelve year history in Atlanta, The Africa Heritage Foundation has been in the forefront of forging productive relationships between America and Africa in commerce, the arts, tourism, cultural education, student exchange programs and other cross-cultural endeavors.

The Africa Day celebration for 2010 is being organized with the active collaboration and support from The Mayor’s office, The Atlanta City Council, The Atlanta Development Authority, The Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and The Atlanta 100 Black Men Association. The event also aims to fulfill the aspirations of concerned American individuals and institutions, particularly from the South East of the country, to establish Atlanta as a gateway for integrated accelerated partnership between America and Africa.

The event for this year envisages the interaction of participating countries and governments and would feature conferences, exhibition of the diverse cultures of the continent, business seminars and exhibitions of art and crafts.  It is hoped to open the ways for viewing the African horizon from a new prism which focus, shall be to advance the development of the vast business and investment opportunities in Africa. At the event, the foundations are also expected to be laid for the structures, upon which the vision would rest, such as the African Village project with its integral components like the Heritage Radio and Television, The African Education Foundation, the African Heritage Museum and Tourism Centre and the USAfrica chamber of commerce, the Africa Heritage Library History and research center .e.t.c.

Meanwhile, the organization for this year’s event is already working closely with the African Union, and it is expected that communication with the individual African countries by their respective Embassies and Consulates in the United States, would be complimented by that from the African Union, whose experience during their visit to the maiden edition of the African event in Atlanta in 2007, would be resourceful.

In addition to the 2010 Africa Union Day celebration, The Africa Heritage Foundation and the City of Atlanta will launch the first ever World Campaign and Celebration in South Africa 2010, in honor of AFRICA and the 2010 World Cup Games.  This effort will focus on the launch of Bringing the WORLD CUP to Atlanta, 2018.
